Welcome to the Lockport Township Highway Department’s web page. As this fiscal year comes to a close we will have saved over one million dollars (YES ONE MILLION) in the past four years. Those savings  were reinvested into paving roads and replacing broken and old equipment. We paid the remaining balance of loans made against our motor fuel tax (MFT) funds. Once we build up MFT funds we will be able to use that money for future road paving projects. I am very excited about several additions I’ve made to my page. Please click on the tabs for additional information and activities about your Township Highway Department.

Financial Information: I believe in transparency. With that being said,  I have added each months paid bills, recapitulation (bank statements), annual budget, and tax levy ordinances since I took office on May 20th 2013. One thing to note, because we have done a great job managing our budget we were able to zero out our tax levy for the 2017-2018 year.

Flag Contest:The Lockport Township Highway Department held a Flag contest for all junior high students in the township. The students were asked to research Township Government and incorporate the responsibilities of the highway department into the design of the flag. Click on the Flag Contest tab in the photo gallery section of the web site for more on the contest and the winner.

Eagle Scout Project: A young man named Roger Elliott came to my office and asked me to be his sponsor for his Eagle Scout project. Only 4% of all Boy Scouts make Eagle Scout. Roger had to design a project, get donations, recruit volunteers and build the project. Roger built a Veterans Memorial in front of the highway department office. I was honored to receive the Mentor pin at Roger’s Eagle Scout ceremony. Check out the pictures of the memorial and stop by the office and visit the memorial in person. It is quite impressive.

Helping Out Coal City: I’m sure you all are aware of the tornado that hit Coal City. Lockport Township Highway Department along with several other municipalities sent equipment and trucks to help with the clean up. I’ve added a few pictures of our crew helping.

Tire Recycling Drive: Lockport Township Highway Department partnered with the Will County Land Use department, together we held a municipal tire recycling drive at our location. There were over 20 municipalities that participated in this one day event. We are proud to say that we recycled over 6,000 tires. Most of the tires were recycled into rubber playground mulch. The pictures in the photo gallery will give you an idea of the day’s activities.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to give us a call or stop by for a visit.

Best regards,
